GEORGE TOWN: A resident thought nothing much when an object in a drain outside his house in Paya Terubong here reflected brilliantly to the light from his torchlight last night.
However, when the object started to move and appeared to be climbing out of the drain, the resident took no chances and immediately contacted the civil defence department.
To his horror, the reflective and moving object turned out to be a four metre-long king cobra.
Thanks to the officers from the department, they managed to locate the deadly cobra, known among locals as ular tedung selar , which had hid itself under a bush near the resident's house.
The snake, believed to be foraging for food, is believed to have come from the nearby woods. It has been handed over to the State Wildlife and National Parks Department.
