FANS of the smash hit musical Mamma Mia! and popular 1970s Swedish pop ABBA can now rejoice.
Live entertainment company Yvents is bringing the show to Kuala Lumpur from Dec 18-21.
Investment holding company KSK Group has come in with its platinum sponsorship of the show, which will be held at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
As part of the sponsorship, a host of activities have been lined up for the public.
Among these are ticket giveaways on radio and social media platforms and an exclusive pre-show cocktail session where guests of the group can meet and mingle with the cast of the musical.
Additionally, the Mamma Mia! cast will hold a workshop for performing arts students and selected faculty members from the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre, University of Malaya, Akademi Seni Budaya Dan Warisan Kebangsaan and Universiti Teknologi Mara.
"The group believes in supporting activities that mean the most to people.
"The Mamma Mia! musical has brought joy to millions of people around the world over the past 15 years and we wanted to share more of this joy with Malaysians.
"Via our exciting giveaways, special workshop and our pre-show hospitality, people from all walks of life will be able to enjoy a slice of the Mamma Mia! joy in different ways," KSK Group chief executive officer Joanne Kua said at amedia briefing announcing the sponsorship.
Mamma Mia! is a musical written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, based on the songs of ABBA, composed by former band members Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus.
The story is about 20-year-old Sophie who, three months before she is due to get married, decides to invite three men from her mother's past, one of whom might be her biological father.
The show features some of the most popular hits from one of the biggest musical acts to come out of Sweden, including Dancing Queen, The Winner Takes It All, Voulez Vous, Take a Chance on Me, Thank You for the Music, Super Trouper and the title track.
The international tour, produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East and Ulvaeus for LittleStar in association with Universal, Stage Entertainment and NGM, will feature a stellar cast and crew of more than 60 people, hailing from London, the United Kingdom.
Mamma Mia! will be staged in Kuala Lumpur from Dec 18 to 21 at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, with ticket prices ranging from RM190 to RM590.
