CHEMOR: Under grey skies and a drizzle, MAS flight stewardess Chong Yee Pheng was laid to rest at the Paradise Memorial Park at 3.12pm on Sunday.

Her final resting place is about a 30-minute-drive from her home in First Garden, Ipoh.

The burial rites started with a Christian mandarin song Sweet bye and bye where family members and friends sang and shed quiet tears in their last farewell to her.

Family members and friends then took turns to lay flowers on the casket.

Earlier, there was about an hour of Christian rites for Chong at her home.

The family also put up a screen showing Chong's happier times with her family and friends at home and abroad.

Her dream was to see the world, and she had achieved that before MAS Flight MH17 was shot down in Ukraine on July 17.

The ill-fated flight with 298 passengers and crew on board was en route from Amsterdam's Schipol Airport to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Chong's remains were among the first group of 20 victims who were brought home last Friday.
