The Georgetown men's basketball team will participate in a holiday tournament in the Bahamas, play one nonconference game at Madison Square Garden and host 16 games at Verizon Center as part of the 2014-15 schedule that was announced Tuesday afternoon.

Following three games at home, including the season opener Nov. 15 against St. Francis of New York, the Hoyas will face Florida Nov. 26 at the three-day Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Georgetown also is scheduled to play an opponent to be announced Nov. 27, which is Thanksgiving, and Nov. 28.

The marquee game highlighting Georgetown's nonconference home schedule is Kansas, which will comes to Verizon Center Dec. 10 for a 7 p.m. tip-off. The Hoyas' final nonconference game is against Indiana Dec. 27 at Madison Square Garden at noon.

Georgetown will open its Big East schedule on New Year's Eve at Cincinnati in a game scheduled to tip-off at 10 p.m. The Hoyas will resume conference play Jan. 3 at home against Creighton, which is the Big East's reigning regular season and tournament champion.

The Hoyas will play five games this season that are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. or later, including at DePaul Jan. 13 and at home against Providence Feb. 4. Both of those games are set to tip just after 9 p.m.

Three of Georgetown's final five games are at Verizon Center, including against Seton Hall on March 7 to close the regular season before the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden. Last season the Hoyas lost to DePaul, 60-56, in the first round of the Big East tournament and failed to earn a bid to the NCAA tournament.

Georgetown finished 18-15 (8-10 Big East) last season during which Coach John Thompson III dismissed forward Greg Whittington from the team and ruled starting center Josh Smith academically ineligible after 13 games. The Hoyas also dealt with an injury to guard Jabril Trawick as well as an NCAA mandated one-game suspension of center Moses Ayegba.
