IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir urged the City Council to plan ahead to ensure Ipoh is among the livable cities in Malaysia with minimum traffic congestion and good transportation system.
"The council must imagine how the city would look like in the future and start taking steps now to work on projecting that image," he said.
"Ipoh City must have an identity of its own," he told reporters after meeting Ipoh mayor Datuk Harun Rawi, council's heads of departments and councillors here today.
He said the plush green icons like Kledang Hill, Sultan Abdul Aziz recreation field and Taman Dr Seenivasagam should be promoted as places of recreational activities.
"The council should focus on cleanliness in the city especially in public toilets and the ones in restaurants," added Zambry.
"We do not want to see restaurant operators who keep their premises clean but neglect the toilets."
The restaurants are graded based on the level of cleanliness by the city council.
Zambry said the quality of cleanliness in the city is very important to the locals and tourists.
