KUALA LUMPUR: Two Singaporeans were killed when the Porsche 911 Turbo car they were travelling in crashed into the steel rail of the road divider of the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway near Desa Petaling.

The accident, which occurred at about 2.30am yesterday, also caused the car to be impaled by a 20m-long steel rail from the driver's side, pinning both victims.

City traffic police have identified the two as drag race car driver Kwek Kon Chun, 35, and photographer Franco Toh, 43.

Kuala Lumpur staff officer for traffic investigation and regulation Deputy Supt Markandan Subramaniam said the two were travelling along KM3.8 of the expressway when Kwek, who was driving the car, lost control of the vehicle.

"It may have been travelling at a high speed. The car spun out of control and crashed into the metal road divider," said DSP Markandan.

KL Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Azizan Ismail said five officers had to cut through the twisted wreck to extricate the bodies.

DSP Markandan said the two were heading to the city centre after an event in Sepang.

The bodies were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem.
