GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Georgetown Animal Shelter is making a few changes in the new year.
The shelter will close Jan. 16 until Jan. 26 while it undergoes "major renovations."
Until the shelter took over in 2005, the city used the building as a pump house. According to the shelter, the floors are badly worn.
Renovations include sandblasting and resurfacing the floors and repainting the interior of the building, according to the City of Georgetown.
The shelter is closing, but the list below shows how you can still carry out services you need from the shelter.
Adoptions
While the shelter is closed for renovations, you can adopt cats and kittens from the Wolf Rand PetSmart. If you are interested in adopting a dog, you have two opportunities during the renovations. On Jan. 17 and Jan. 24 the shelter will provide an adoption fair at the PetSmart near Ikea in Round Rock.
Pet licenses
Send paperwork and payment to Georgetown Animal Shelter, PO Box 409, Georgetown, Texas, 78627. The shelter will mail you license tags.
Animal control issues
If you need to report loose dogs or animal-related complaints, call the non-emergency police number at 512-930-3510. Dispatches will send out Animal Control Officers.
Lost and found animals
If you need to report a lost or found animal, call the shelter at 512-930-3592 to schedule an appointment. The shelter will accept pets through the gates at the rear of the shelter.
Surrendering a pet
If you need to surrender a pet, call the shelter at 512-930-3592 to schedule an appointment. Like the lost and found animals, the shelter will accept pets through the gates at the rear of the shelter.
